Hey munky and handle with care... so I managed to connect now with Xchat. Maybe my mirc was corrupted or something, I have no idea. But since Xchat (or its really xchat 2/ychat, the free one) is working, I'll just start using this now.

Hey munky thanks for your post. I was able to connect with mibbit the web IRC client. I tried icechat but its not working to connect to any server because of some Active X issue.

This is interesting. Why is mibbit working? Any idea?

I tried to disable my router firewall and also connect directly to the router with an ethernet cable and this still did not solve the problem.

Please does anyone have any idea how to fix this? This is such a weird problem. Getting this error ONLY with efnet? How can that be?

Yes I have tried numerous other servers with no luck. As for the antivirus software I use Avast thats fully updated always.
