Everyone would be better off going to 5 friends and cleaning their computers rather than worrying about their own, esp since it's usually the lay person who hears about virus' and worms but could really care less until they are affected. I would hope the majority of IRC users are above average, alth...

i suggest going to http://www.mirc.com and download the client, assuming you don't already have an IRC capable client. connect to an EFNet server, then "/join #skatevideos". the mirc help has alot of great details, and shows you how to setup the client if you need it.
Yea, these seem to do little harm, but too damn annoying. To me when you're over 20 or so public channels...something is wrong. These same ones come into my channel, and they are usually in 40+ channels(yesterday one topped out at 84). I only see them being used to gather xdcc/fserve lists from some...

out of curiosity, what is the avg spec's for an ircd machine now? forgoing the bandwidth requirements, does the hardware have to be that great so as to make aol(or any company) want to take the two server machines(i assume 1 for efnet, 1 for undernet) and use them for something else. lord only knows...

while i do look forward to full ipv6 deployment, right now as it is almost entirely a 'shell' type market, there is little added need for ipv6 servers. until end users physically have an ipv6 addy to them, and not through a reseller like the he.net tunnels were type thing, i see little need. as seik...

i'm pretty sure the .org host points to the .info host and everything is hosted on .info. so its more a matter of which domain you set your options/cookies on. i'd suggest either just renaming your shortcut to hit the .info site or login to both, set same options and cookies should be fine from ther...

finding channel total per client
Is there an easy way to find out how many channels a given client is on other than a /whois <nick> and count the channels? even automating a script to do it, i'm afraid of serverside flooding. The reason being I'm starting to have problems with what I call channel whores. These being ppl on 20, 30, ...
