Which BNC's are most notable and why? Probably psybnc.. it seems to be the most popular.. although I used to use ezbounce. There is a fairly newer BNC out available called ZNC. It it pretty good. Is it safe to assume all current ssl-enabled EFnet servers have at minimum tcp/9999 open for SSL connections.. and possibly even future EFnet servers?

There might be some sort of script running that detects any kind of http messages to the channel within a certain amount of time after joining the channel. Also, the person running that script may be an oper or know an oper that had the gline placed.. That is a pretty unfair gline in my opinion thou...

I receive the message mentioned above everytime I try to connect to a channel. It also mention something about a blacklisted proxy. Can anyone tell me why is this happening and how to avoid it? A ban for *!root@* is usually just that.. a ban for the username root. If you connect with a different username or ident, you should not be banned. None the less, if you are still temporarily banned by that individual server, you can try another server. Efnet server list here: http://www.efnet.org/?...

You might try using alternate DNS servers other than the ones assigned to you by your ISP.
