Whether we like Chanfix or not, the reasons why it "had" to be brought in are relatively clear. People used to packet servers in an attempt to split them off the network, and then to use the split servers to regain ops on opless channels. It was inevitable that the network's codebase had to be upgra...

The important about a kline like this isnt to punish, but to make you learn that you shouldnt have excessive clients from the same machine connected to EFnet at the same time. Not to make a semantic argument (of course I would!), but the a-retentive would probably suggest that punishment is the too...

You can't connect to EFnet via WAP. I'm not that familiar with the Nokia 6600 O2, but in order to access EFnet, you need a real Internet connection. Probably a good idea to refer to your phone's manual to see if it offers direct Internet access via an ISP/gateway, or if it's WAP-only. Good Luck, Beige

(...) this case, it looks like 1 hr Whereas the above is true for the authoritative query (e.g. affecting how quickly a newly added IP propagates), typically the caching DNS servers continue to honour the round robin structure of the original query. For example, a few non-authoritative lookups in a...

Re: banned from efnet
Hello. Shame to hear about your problems. It's curious to note that you're using the irc.efnet.net round robin and end up rejected even so (in theory, connecting to irc.efnet.net should give you a new pseudo-random EFnet server every time you try to reconnect). Try connecting at irc.blessed.net or i...

Re: Conection problem
Hey, since 2 days ago I am having problem to conect to any EFNET servers, evne those i used to conect (I am from Brazil, so I can not use all of them). Regrettably, some IP ranges tend to be blacklisted/firewalled more easily, because there's more abuse than legitimate user traffic emanating from t...

Re: Idle times,
are servers allow to turn this off? I thought every EFnet server had to have this on, I just seen one server that had it turned off, I was woundering if that was right? As a response to a regular WHOIS <Nick> (e.g. /WHOIS Johnny) you will typically only see an idle time if the user is on the same s...
Re: Music
Myself, I enjoy dance music, in perticular trance... Anyone else? Isn't trance music a bit dangerous in some circumstances, such as raves, where the music itself may often not be distinguishable from e.g. a fire alarm? :-) No, just kidding. The question of music preference is interesting, though. I...

Re: *clone* nicks
hi. i've noticed that some servers ban (or is it called 'jupe'?) *clone* nicks (efnet.xs4all.nl, irc.jealousy.com and maybe others too). isn't that a little silly? i mean, how retarded would someone have to be as to give their clones/drones/bots nicks that contain clone (*clone*!*@*). Agreed, on th...

Re: Chans Names
How can I join separated chans like: #The IRC Police? As previously suggested, what is used is not in fact the actual space character (ASCII code 32), but another character which is processed as a space on many terminals/fonts. This "blank" character is ASCII code 160, and on a Windows client such ...
Re: Drones
Just out of curiosity is anybody interested in getting rid of a 100+ drone net sitting in 35+ channels? In the unlikely event of finding a channel with drones on EFnet.. 1. Do not panic; remain calm. 2. Leave the drone channel immediately. Do not take personal belongings with you as these may slow ...

Re: Banned because of Clones
Hey, we're an Shell renting compagny and people who r on efnet thrue a BNC are getting banned because of clones: There really is no good reason why a single user would need to connect more than 2 clients to EFnet from the same machine/account. Having 2 clients/connections guards against missing a s...
