irc.dks.ca's motd clearly states:
* no abuse (clones, flooding, spam or mass advertising).
So I won't "clone" on that server. ;-)
/motd <servername> to get the motd and rules of the server.

Hehe. Welcome back! I remember when the original left, it actually held a lot of EFNet's clients. Now if only the motd completely reflects the changes. :)

Like you wrote yourself, it draws the attention away from the actual host. That means that it can potentially draw attention to the IRC server the user is on when an aggressor realizes that attacking the IP address doesn't seem to work or when the realize it's not actually the proper IP address. It'...

I believe the main "problem" with Chanfix, is not necessarly how Chanfix works. I think the main problem is that people are now relying on Chanfix to keep their channel for them and when they don't fit the requirements that Chanfix imposes, they get upset when it can not be used to fix their taken o...

Re: D-Lined (Wasnt my fault!)

Recently, I tried to get on with PJIRC, a web baised client. My old browser kept crashing when I tried, just after I logged on. I tried 4 or 5 times, and ended up switching to Safari. In safari it works fine, but now I am d-railed. Is there anyone that can help me? Then actually, if you kept trying...

Get on another server on EFNet, type /admin server.you.were.d-lined.from and find the contact information and shoot them an email explaining your situation and also, your hostname.

Sony and Nintendo's new portables.

So... What do you guys think of Sony's PSP and Nintendo's DS portables? Which one are you rooting for? They both have impressive specs, and the PSP looks so sexy. Nintendo's prototype, IMO, is ugly, but I think the DS is exactly what Tapwave wanted to do, but Nintendo is properly doing. Hmmm. What a...

From the page Osc posted: What's important here is what the administrators of the IRC server(s) think. Tibar, it seems to me that you already know what you want. You're concerned enough to raise a question about it, which I think means that you want to side with dealing with it on your server. On a ...

This is an unfortunate turn of events. However, you shouldn't blame ChanFix. All it did was what it programmed to do and that's to see the relevant scores of the recently opped users. FooNet's servers were confiscated and this was in no part due to EFNet and Chanfix. According to you, this is an int...

Having an useable network is a lot more attractive than one that "lost it's free (as in anarchy) charm." All that's gone is that channels are now harder/pointless to take over. It's still possible. That's just one aspect of it. There are so many people who prefer to have a place that they can chat a...

First off, I'm surprised it's already been *that* long! It only seems like it was introduced recently. I've seen several channels that were "saved" by ChanFix. Chanfix seems to have made IRCing, at least on EFNet, more enjoyable for me as I do not have to worry too much about having a channel become...

I've only started seeing it for the recent months. The support might've been in there, but I don't recall ever seeing any server allow it on EFNet until recently. :-) I remember trying to see if it works on EFNet a while back, after seeing how some people /part with angry messages on other networks.

You can /admin servers.that.banned.you and email and ask the admins nicely about the bans. Give them all pertinent information like your hostname at the time of the ban and the ban reason you see and see what they say. Not all virus spamming software/scriots are detectable by all anti-virus software...
