irc.pte.hu performs upgrades

Fresh out of trial, irc.pte.hu will be down this weekend to perform several upgrades on both server and network infrastructure. The server will be back up again on monday serving clients from all over the world.

I have only paid for a shell account once, and that was close to 10 years ago now. With so much "internet" everywhere its hard not knowing someone who can get you a "free shell" ..

oops, you're right i didn't count the irc2.* servers, and a hub/client combo. US is still in the lead serverwise!! Hah, i have so many comments on just that but ill try to control myself ;) I would say that EU-EFnet have most usefull servers compared to the numbers... And thats as far as i will go :)

And if we count the clients right now,

EU holds 53,848 ( average: 3,167.53 ) on 24 servers ( incl. hubs )
US holds 41,007 ( average: 2,050.35 ) on 28 servers ( incl. hubs )
CA holds 14,127 ( average: 3,531.75 ) on 5 servers ( incl. hubs )

So, read what ever you want out of those stats... :)

There is a reason they were juped in the first place, and that is that single letter nicks used to get the servers dossed alot because they were popular. Some servers still has them and others dont. There are plenty of combinations to use as a nick on efnet, so use one of them instead. You can also ...

just a trivial question about EU-EFNet policy from someone who doesn't really need to know anyway, but why doesn't this server have mentors like other new EU servers have? according to their new link policy, the mentor "may be appointed". it doesn't say they must be appointed. if this is the case, ...
