Re: Death to all Drones!

Just a suggestion ... We all know there are spam/ddos drones all over irc, and little can be done to completely wipe them all out. But I have a suggestion to all the opers out there that might help minimize some of them on your individual servers. Notice that a lot of drones seem to always be in 20...

If you were joining channels and posting this URL you were probably being treated as a SPAM bot would be and being kicked automatically.

If you wish to "Study" the natives it is usually a good idea to hang out with them before using the "Probe" ;-)

identd implementation appears to be flawed or not straight forward.

I will admit I did not invest a great deal of effort however if I cannot connect a client within 15 mins to a fairly open server like irc.blessed.net then the client in inherently flawed for the average end user IMNSHO.

I have not run accross this as a problem either. I do not IRC from my personal computer. I use a shell account. If I was running an IRC client from my Personal PC and was K-Lined with a message about trogans I would assume the detect bot knew what it was checking for and would start to clean my mach...

I vote yes, DDoS absolutely does happen because some opers abuse their access. However, the opers that do do this are far and few between, people just only remember the bad and not the good. I agree with this statement. I have also seen this type of behavior affect things on a channel level. You ca...

I could easily imagine some controversy over the oper tools that were recently voted in. Personally I don't fear for my privacy just because these tools becomes available and if it furthers the spam/drone/whatever hunt, then shoot away. Yeah with Carnivore and the Patriot act who really is concerne...

It looks like you are aware, and it was just a mistake but *.fr isn't an ISP it's a CC TLD for France. :P wanadoo is the only isp i know of over there, so it's the only one i've seen abuse co...

Another set back in the Hybrid movement. Not to mention loss of a very reliable stable server.
