so lets say we have a dial up user on blah@user12-43-5.dialup.isp.com. lets say normally someone in the channel bans blah@user*.dialup.isp.com. in a spoofed case the user can have blah@user<cryptedhere>.dialup.isp.com. this would in a way solve the unbannable problem. Youve just completely ignored ...

The XO and nac hubs dont pass them. Operspy notices require the "ENCAP" capability to propagate - neither of those two hubs support it.

While I do not agree with more tools, I do agree with hostmasking. It would be nice to get a MD5 type +x added, but that would also mean sharing keys among server admins and keeping them up to date. md5'd +x does not work. If you hash all of the hostname, then a users ISP becomes "unbannable". They...

Perhaps we need to start thinking in a different mindset. I just don't know what that is just yet. Theres nothing saying you have to require registration - you could just make it optional to get something.. (ie, a user spoof). You are right, but this still does not solve the problem of drones, and ...

Re: in the future will opers need to have more control?

hybrid is the ircd where i have seen that opers get the least power. id say ircnets ircd wins hands down on opers having the least power. You have to patch it to even be able to kline via the ircd :P. i think that hybrid is already drifting towards this as you can see the operspy commands in hybrid...

Sure it would be a great tool for preventing drone abuse. I personally dont agree with this feature. I think we all know somewhere down the road, some oper would abuse this kind of service (even only a couple of times). Thus leaving the overall "oper image" for the rest of the oper world with more ...

+I and +e seemed to go through fairly quickly, as soon as I hear about it, they are being implimented... I can't see that its that much of a problem to impliment +d, just more of an excuse not to... You say that coders would have to change their code, but as far as I know, it is/should already be i...

umm i thought it was just for the real name, or full name as its called in mIRC, but I just found this on the irchelp.org website.... so maybe its for more than just the real name field. The original hyb6 implementation (which was later removed) worked just on a clients gecos field. It is easy to e...

A juped channel is essentially a banned channel. "Only 4 times" is more than enough, although I guess the error message that gets displayed "Channel/Nick is temporarily unavailable" is a bit vague for people to really know to stop. Perhaps a more descriptive error message would've helped. :) Jupite...

Thats what happens when ircd usage is fragmented ;).
