Re: Nicks
so if the irc-protocol was made today you would be able to start your nick with a number. Possibly, but possibly not. Nicks starting with a number is an easy way of doing FNC - changing a users nick instead of killing them on a collide. As users cant change themselves to nicks like that, you can re...

Re: csircd not compliant
When a bot is supporting +e modes and it's owner is too lame to figure out that the bot ended up on the lame irc.nac.net server, it has the nice result of locking up a channel or something like that. Instead of leaving the IRCd setting unwanted modes, why just not give an error message, like "+I Th...

I wasn't trying to imply that demon is shady or anything like that. I'm intrested in running hyb 7 +demon. The problem i have is the diff from bootbay doesn't patch hyb CURRENT or hyb STABLE correctly. I was wondering if there is any current version of the patch. I've messaged leeh and had no luck....

Hehe, i have to agree it looks a bit wierd. There are more us servers with its own hub now then without. I guess some of the motive to have good coverage of US hubs is to avoid the situation that lead to the termination of US-Routing. This way the network doesnt suffer that much if a unity of hub a...

Re: Routing user connections in hybrid7?
Im not shure if this is the right place for this kind of question but ill ask it anyways... In hybrid 7 it says that it allowes you to route users from your ircd to another, when i tried it I found it more as if I just k-lined a whole ip range from my ircd. Ive realised that some irc networks have ...
Well it's good to hear that it's implemented in 2.x of ratbox so that'll be somethign to play with since its very simple for me to switch between TS5 and 6 (if I implement it). I'm not too worried about it not being implemented in hybrid6.4 it just would of been nice to make it more global. It was ...

I think you all miss a great point about mIRC. You have to pay for it if you're gonna use it for over 30 days (who doesnt). Also it's not open source so modifying it becomes hard and finding backdoors aswell. Why use something you'd have to pay for to use when you can get the same functionality wit...

Re: problem linking ratbox locally
This is a connect block for a server *named* 127.0.0.1 on *host* 127.0.0.1, which is probably not what you want (and probably isnt valid anyway).-wassup- wrote:this my connect block in the ratbox server:

Re: Banned: Cached - please help
I was logging onto EfNET fine last night, and all I did was visit a few channels, then disconnect. The next time i tried to connect, I received this message: "Banned: Cached" - The "cached" simply means you connected to that server multiple times, were refused access multiple times, so it cached th...

Re: channel list out put
Looks like it's no longer possible to do a /list , as Hybrid/RatBox will truncate it. I even tried getting a list from nac and prison, almost same result, except that csircd doesn't care about sending a message to the client that the listing has stopped. At this point, you just assume the server di...

your best bet is to either limit the number of responses by setting criteria (like only channels with minimum 10 users or more), or by using an online irc listing program like http://www.searchirc.com My understanding was that such filtering was done client-side, while the server sends a listing of...
