G-Lined for DCC Send

Postby Awaken » Sun Apr 22, 2007 10:57 pm

OK, I found the little exploit of the DCC SEND <leaving blank since the admins don't find it as amusing as I do>, and got G-Lined for it. I didn't realize I was going to get banned for this. I thought it was amusing. I believe the problem arises from the usage of Norton. If I'm correct, then these people should get a better anti-virus program anyways...

Anyways, in the end, I'm sorry about this, and didn't realize there was a rule against it. I didn't see any sign anywhere saying "hey, don't use the DCC SEND trick to make people disconnect!" It seemed plenty harmless at the time. =/

Just hoping I can get unbanned.

I'm not sure how that is supposed to be funny.. it's rather very annoying.
Anyways, how goes the saying.. simple things amuse simple minds.

Most servers forbid abuse on their MOTD, and that DCC crap is definetly abuse since it gives you 'control' over connections of a few users.

And you are probably not glined.. rather klined. Anyways if it's really a G-Line it will expire in 24 hours.

actually, more often than not, dcc send exploiters are glined.

gline experation times vary, but average around 24 hours.

I don't deny it. It's the simple things in life that make it so great.

Anyways, thanks for the answers, hopefully I'll be able to get back on so that I can be amused by the simple thing that is IRC. ;)

Well, I'm unbanned now. I guess I've learned my lesson... =/

This falls under the catagory of 'if you act like a moron...'

That little exploit is old, and tired. Maybe next time you could think of something a little more creative and original instead of just copying something you've seen 1000 other kiddies do.

Better yet, try using IRC as it was ment. to chat with people, instead of trying exploit random_users's router.
