Remote end closed the connection

Postby narke » Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:47 pm

Hi,

I am trying to onnect efnet (irc.efnet.org or irc.efnet.net) using epic from my linux system, but I always get the error 'Remote end closed connection". My computer is behind a home ADSL router that connect to the internet, and the dynamic IP of the ADSL is something like: 218.13.232.xxx. I want to know, whether I was blocked? (ps. I can connect irc.freenode.net

Thanks in advance.

i see no bans on your IP on servercentral

have you tried a tcptraceroute? or specifying a specific efnet server rather than a roundrobin?

Thank you. I found traceroute cannot reach irc.fnet.net (.org), but I also tried one or two servers listed in this site, they are also unreachable though traceroute. So, could I get some tips about how to find a suitable efnet server to me? ps. what means a roundrobin server as you mentioned?

Thanks again.

Thanks again.
round robin is when it looks like you are connecting to 1 server, but actually it takes you thru a list of servers til you connect.

you can find a list of servers by region here:
