Banned for 24h ?

Postby Thermi » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:33 pm

Hi,

I get this error message when i try to connect to efnet.org
Why did you put up a ban mask for a whole provider?
And what do you mean by "Drones" ? Bots?
[16:27:07] [ERROR] *** Banned: Temporary D-line 1440 min. - (r69/37) Drones (2011/3/15 15.25)
[16:27:07] [ERROR] Connection to irc://irc.efnet.org/ (irc://irc.efnet.org/) closed. [Help] Reconnecting in 15 seconds. [Cancel]

First, you don't give an indication that an entire provider has been barred from EFnet. There is nothing in what you provided that would say that. A D-line only applies to one server.

Second, that is a temporary ban (1440 minutes or 24 hours).

Trying to connect to irc://irc.efnet.org/ isn't the correct way to do it. Suggest you try individual, specific servers. There is a full list of EFnet servers, with their correct names, at: http://www.efnet.org/?module=servers

My Client chooses the server randomly from an array with the list of servers for a specific network
and I wasn't on the server when the ban happened.
Now i'm asking myself: what shitty banmask (sorry for that expression but that it, was it is) is that that affects me although my vhost contains my IP-Address and my service provider :?:
Another Thing: My service provider only handles out static IPs so what did they do?
Did they put a wildcard at the wrong position in the banmask or what?!

I can connect to efnet.bredband2.se but that still leaves those questions open.

Your original post indicated you encountered a d-line from only one server (not specified). You now say you can connect to at least one server.

Your insistence on using the round-robin is your problem (I gave you an alternative). Your statement saying you use this method to connect to many networks smells of spam, which is prohibited on EFnet.

Other than your inarticulate response, laced with profanity, I don't understand your problem other than the world doesn't bend to your desires. Hint: It won't, no matter how many or how loud your tantrums.

Now, if you can determine the correct server with the d-line, you can email them, but I suggest you leave the profanity under your bed if you expect to have any attention paid to it.

I never spam and I don't intend to do so.
The matter is solved now. I talked to an server op and i got affected by a filter. (Not the proxy scanner)
Thread can be closed now.
