Some servers allow you to, it depends from server to server, but mzima.net and he.net let me do this. Just try it and see :?:

irc.dks.ca's motd clearly states:
* no abuse (clones, flooding, spam or mass advertising).
So I won't "clone" on that server. ;-)
/motd <servername> to get the motd and rules of the server.

Deww: So I won't "clone" on that server.
So, does that mean you clone on other servers?

different servers have different definitions of clones

i usually allow 2 user@host, 3 user@vhost. if you have 3 or 4, respectively, you will get d/klined. some servers are more strict, some are less. if the motd doesn't state the limits, check the /admin [server.name] contact and ask them specifically. be sure to include your reason for wanting clones/vclones.

Also note that almost every server will ban you if you have 4 or more connections networkwide from the same user@host.
