Efnet Connection Problem

Postby int » Sat Aug 07, 2004 2:09 am

I've been trying to connect to Efnet for a couple of weeks now. Whenever I do, I get the "Welcome to the Internet Relay Network", sometimes even more, like tonight:

[Fri 10:04PM] -irc.inet.tele.dk- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
[Fri 10:04PM] -irc.inet.tele.dk- *** Checking Ident

[Fri 10:04PM] -irc.inet.tele.dk- *** No Ident response

415 IRC Operators online
42196 channels formed
I have 11072 clients and 1 servers

Current local users: 11072 Max: 12930

But I can't do anything else! I can't join channels, change nicks, list channels, nothing works! Most of the time, it's just "Welcome to..", and even then, can't do anything. I'm on Undernet all the time and I never have this problem - i don't think it's my client? I even installed the latest version of mIRC tonight... any ideas? I would love to get back on Efnet. I've tried A LOT of servers - those closest to me and some further away..

do you have similar problems joining other networks? it seems to be a client-problem, cause what you paste there is a succesful connection to an irc-server. if you do still have problems, it can be other stuff like a trojan-infection... try these steps:
1. completly uninstall mirc (control-panel -> add/remove programs)
2. install a new fresh mirc from http://www.mirc.co.uk and do NOT keep existing settings, nor make any backup.
3. download the cleaner from http://www.moosoft.com
4. follow instructions at http://www.hackfix.org/software/configure/cleaner.html

good luck
