irc.eversible.com approved by US-admins for 45 day trial

Postby seiki » Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:12 pm

Earlier today, US admins approved the test-link application for irc.eversible.com submitted on behalf of Cymru and Prolexic. The proposed admin of the server is Beige and robt from team cymru. The host is Prolexic, and the server is located in their Florida datacenter. This brings the number of Floridian EFnet servers to 4, giving the state more than ample coverage.

Beige is no stranger to EFnet, having been an IRCop on demon's server for many years. He is also one of the openchanfix coders who revolutionized our current IRC services. He is the only US primary admin whom is located outside the United States.

The server is expected to link to EFnet later this afternoon. Welcome aboard!

This provider offers Unix Shells? This is the first case where an IRCD provider has also offered unix shells directly on the branded website.

Also, since the holding company of eversible is religious, does that mean we're going to see an increase in that kind of user base?

Hello HM2K.

This is actually not the first shell offering of its kind -- older regulars probably remember examples such as best.com, and efnet.net's current shell service is conceptually similar.

As far as the parent organization goes, it may have religious origins, but most of its initiatives are contributions to Internet users at large (without denominational, geographical or religious bias), and it has enjoyed secular support for a long time.

"and efnet.net's current shell service is conceptually similar"

It's also frowned on bigtime by some EFnet admins.
