OpenChanfix 2 week test period starting Wed 17 Nov 2004

Postby Garion » Mon Nov 15, 2004 1:42 pm

Hello all,

from Wed 17 Nov to Tue 30 Nov EFnet will be testing OpenChanfix. This means that you will not see CHANFIX entering your channel to fix it, but CHANFIX2. If all goes well, you won't notice any difference except for the nick.

After these 2 weeks (or sooner if things go wrong), the old situation will be restored.

If, during this time, you see CHANFIX2 doing weird things, please report them to #chanfix.

Kind regards,
The services.eu administration.

Right now we do it to make sure OCF really would work incase we did, and the plan is to have OCF linked as services.eu and a backup services for EFnet incase something would happend to our primary one or its location.

When the trial is ended im sure there will be some discussion on perhaps moving over to OCF code if the majority think it has better features then the current code. But this is a political minefield and i dont think anyone knows what will happend with it in the future :)
