identd is the identity daemon, rather oldschool and not needed as much now as before to authenticate who you are, but still used. identd uses the port 113 to exchange data, so you need to make sure you allow your router to forward these packets across your network.

depending on what router you have you need to do 1 of 2 things:

1) set up port triggering so outgoing connections on 6666-6669 will allow incoming connections on 113 (prefered)

2) open up port 113 to always go to your computer (works good if you're the only one using irc, otherwise, only you will respond to ident requests. this can be confusing and/or troublesome if you have many roommates that want to get on irc)

read the documentation for your router to see how to do these things
