What are the rules pertaining to hostname spoofing? I ask this because I thought opers only spoofed hostnames for themselves/others to hostnames that are outrageous and almost impossible to be actual hostnames.
However, I saw someone with a spoofed hostname, where the domain is valid and is owned by me. Though the hostname is not valid, it very well can be in the future. So people can request to spoof lalala.harvard.edu if they wanted to?
I mean not only do I feel it like stealing/impersonating, the person can pretend to be affiliated with the domain. It can also attract attacks to the main domain too if someone figures since the hostname doesnt resolve, I'll attack the main domain since that resolves.
