I don't know if normal users can do this, but you can /msg services host <whatever>. The problem is that it'll only tell you if he's on, not what his nick is, or what server he's on, etc.

That may be the closest you can come if he's +i. You can always /who the host.

if they aren't +i, you can /who *host* and find them that way.

i caught my son that way when he was about 14 in a sex channel with the nick Horny15M... that pretty much ruined his wanting to IRC.

Yes, normal users can use this. I find this to be a very useful tool, especially when checking to see if someone is infected with a trojan and someone is using their connection for something else on IRC (extra connections to EFNet from their IP)

depends on the services really. for example on hybserv2 its /msg operserv trace *info* and operserv is services administrators only.

I think he's talking about on EFNet, since that's what this site is about.
There is no operserv on EFNet.

well you were saying that /msg services host <info> was a command everyone was using and i simply stated it depends on services and i know efnet does not have operserv.

... except I was referring to services on efnet, which is a specific entity.
