EFnet IRC Network Forum

Cleaver. I haven't been on it in a while and I just got home from class and wanted to chat up a few people. All I am getting for any server is this:

I have used EFnet since 1992 and have never seen this happen before in my entire life. Usually you guys ban on certain servers or certain regions but I could always get back in.

Either that or you guys pulled efnet down completely and it is dead. Someone a few weeks ago told me that EFnet was going down for good but I didn't believe him because I was just on it recently.

What are my options? I'm not a little "l33t kiddo hax0r" with bnc's, shells, and whatnot.. I'm just an average user.. all that other nonsense was always proven to be a waste of time to use.

See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2904 (and note the date). Then try a different server.

Also, there is no such server as irc.efnet.info
Also, no idea what you're trying to do with those IP numbers. The others you mention are either restricted or you have mistyped their names.

I didn't manually type in those except for a few of the DNS.. the rest were being pulled from the efnet server I was trying to connect to.

well maybe if I try again in a few weeks / months I'll be able to get on efnet to chat. for now it looks like it is broken or comcast is entirely banned from it.

The one I noticed was irc.ereversible.com -- it's actually eversible.

well I am a noob still. I found that I had to add an exception to my firewall. I'm using a different antivirus suite since avira no longer helps.

Anyway it works now that I did add program. Usually this thing asks me for permission but it didn't for my irc client software.

But at least this got me to turn on identd instead of leaving the port forwarding not configured for this system.

thanks for the replies. I'll be more careful in the future. And this is pretty much the only irc network that I like. I am amazed that it has stayed the same since the beginning, nickname length limitation and all. It is unique imo and good.
