Locking old topics

Once in a while I see people responding to threads that are *months* old. Is there a setting that autolocks topics over xx days? Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

I'd suggest 15 days. =]

In general I agree with this.

I think, if you want a 15 day timeout, it should reset at every post (i.e. lock if there are no new posts for 15 days).

Otherwise the timeout would have to be longer, as I can imagine threads which naturally last longer than 15 days.

Besides doing it manually, there's no way to just lock old topics. Delete, yes, but we don't want to do that.

that, and if you lock old topics, you'll just be repeating the same discussions over and over when people post the same problem twice

as it is now, if you reply to an existing topic, you can say "i have this problem as well, and none of the above suggestions worked".

or maybe someone wants to mention that the 2 year old "what's your favorite music" topic doesn't have steel drums listed...
