Pecs, Hungary - Pecs University has enabled SSL connections today on it's EFnet IRC Server. You may connect to irc.pte.hu on port 9999, 7000, 7001 and 6697 using SSL. The server is running linux on a generic x86 p4, and is reportedly running the ratbox3 beta without any problems.
Users are encouraged to participate in the public beta SSL tests.
Carouge, Switzerland - Mw tells EFnet News that IP-MAN has just enabled SSL connections. Users can connect to irc.efnet.ch using port 9999 with a SSL Enabled IRC Client. You may also use ports 6697, 7000 and 7001.
It's IRCD is ratbox3, which is running on a sun fire v240 sparc64. It's one of the few servers on EFnet which uses OpenBSD.
irc.blessed.net has now upgraded to ratbox3.0.0b3 and joined the club of EFnet servers which support SSL connections.
You can connect to irc.blessed.net on ports 6697, 7000, 7001 and 9999.
Warsaw PL - Andrzej "Karpio" Karpinski from efnet.pl tells EFnet News that ATMAN's server, irc.efnet.pl, was recently upgraded to the newest branch from FreeBSD, 7.0-stable. At the same time, the IRCD code was upgraded to the latest release of ircd-ratbox.
He reports it's all working very well, and that the CPU load never goes above 20%. Not bad for an old p3/1000MHz, especially when you consider that irc.efnet.pl regularly handles 2k-3k users.
irc2.choopa.net was upgraded earlier to ircd-ratbox-3.0.0beta1. As a result it is now able to offer SSL connections on port 9999.
As ircd-ratbox-3 is in the beta phase it should be noted that this server will be used for testing, and should not yet be considered stable.
